EKU Dual Credit-September 2018 Update

EKU Dual Credit September 2018 Update

EKU Dual Credit Update!

Congratulations, you are over ¼ of the way through the Fall 2018 semester. Make sure to stay on top of your studies because the last half of the semester will seem to fly!

I have listed below several important items.  If you have any questions regarding anything on this update, please do not hesitate to contact the Dual Credit office by replying to this email or calling 859-622-6532.

Go Colonels!

Chris Bogie, John Perrin, Joan Miller and Breanna Bowling

Tuition – EKU Dual Credit scholarships have not been applied.  EKU Dual Credit scholarships will be applied after the State Dual Credit Scholarships (KHEAA scholarships).  The high school deadlines for the State Scholarships run into October; so, we are projecting that EKU Dual Credit scholarships will be applied in late October or early November.  We will inform students when all scholarships have been applied to their accounts.   Accounts may show late fees at this time; however, these will be removed when accounts are correct.

Four Week Progress Report – Most students should have a four-week progress report waiting in EKU Direct.  The progress reports do not replace mid-terms, but indicate whether a student’s work is satisfactory or unsatisfactory as of four weeks into the semester.  Students receive an email notifying them of the progress report, but the report must be accessed through EKU Direct. If you received anything other than Satisfactory, your high school counselor was notified.

Mid-terms – Fall 2018 Mid-Term grades will be viewable in EKU Direct as of October 8th.  Please do not assume your Blackboard grades are correct.  Your official mid-term and final grades will be posted in EKU Direct.

Assurance of Learning Day– There will be no day classes on campuses Friday, September 28th as faculty will be participating in Assurance of Learning Day.  Classes will resume after 4:00 pm. This does not mean that no assignments are due on this date.  Please check your syllabus and Blackboard for assignment due dates.

Fall Break – There will be no classes on EKU Campuses October 15th and 16th  as the university is closed for Fall Break.  This does not mean that no assignments will be due on these dates.  Please check your course syllabus and Blackboard for assignment due dates.

Withdrawals – Students concerned about their academic progress in a course should always consult their instructor and high school counselor before withdrawing.  The instructor may be able to advise the student on how to complete the course successfully.   Your high school counselor needs to make certain that students are still meeting their high school requirements for graduation.  The absolute last day to withdraw is November 11th.  Students may withdraw online through EKU Direct. Any students that experience an issue withdrawing should contact registration@eku.edu prior to the deadline.  You can also call our office Monday through Friday through November 9th for assistance.

Spring Dual Credit Application Deadline –Students currently taking courses do not need to apply for the spring semester.  If you know of someone not currently participating in EKU Dual Credit, applications for Spring 2019 are due on November 1. Tuition acknowledgement forms, transcripts and ACT scores should accompany new applications.  The application is available online at http://dualcredit.eku.edu under the link “How To Apply”.  All high school juniors will need to reapply for Fall 2019 at the end of the school year (more information to follow at a later date).

ACT – Students wishing to take the National ACT to raise their scores in order to qualify for a dual credit scholarship for Spring should register through the ACT website (http://act.org/).  The dates for the ACT and R-ACT (national and residual) are listed below.  Remember, Residual ACT test scores will reside at EKU; they cannot be sent to other schools.
